Psalm 34 vs 14 says; turn away from evil and do good. search for peace and work to maintain it.
Lets look at the instructions in this one verse of scripture
- Turn away from evil.
- Do good.
- Search for peace.
- work at maintaining peace.
Lets begin with the first instruction today which is, turn away from evil. another version says turn from every sin. this Christian life has everything to do with obedience. we are supposed to kill our fleshly desires in order to please God. This is what seperates us from the world ; we do not live after the flesh but through the spirit we mortify (kill) the works of the flesh. These days though, we see believers embracing sin, living in fornication, lying and praying all in one breath! So called children of God are manipulating one another and plotting other people’s downfall. The word of God says, “if you love me, obey my commandments.” John 14 vs 15 NLT. There is no loving Him and disobeying blatantly. We must seek to do His will. You have to work on improving yourself daily to become a good example of the believer ! Timothy 4 vs 12. If we all live in disobedience, who will become Pastor and servants of God? Children of God arise and begin a walk of obedience so that God can have worthy ambassadors here on earth. This turning away from sin should be a daily exercise that will bring about growth and help us gain mastery over evil.
Romans 12 vs 21 says, ” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good”.
James 3 vs 16 says “Where jealousy and selfishness are, there will be confusion and every kind of evil.
Let us meditate on this word and focus on obeying God’s word. i pray that the Holy Spirit will help us do God’s bidding in Jesus name. Amen.
